Meant primarily for practitioners, this text would likely be most helpful for primary care providers who see a large number of active kids. Sports medicine practitioners and fellows would also benefit from this book. The editors represent the specialties of pediatrics and orthopedic surgery and the contributors are recognized experts in their respective specialties. General health and fitness benefits to sports participation, training issues, management issues, as well as general medical and musculoskeletal conditions are all covered. All of the sections are well done. Tables, algorithms, color illustrations, and x-ray reproductions are of high quality and add to the understanding of the material presented. This text is concise, nicely packaged, and an easy reference tool. It will be a very good reference for the busy primary care provider who takes care of active kids. Some sections are somewhat basic for sports medicine practitioners, but it would still be a good addition to their sports medicine library.</p>
