The first part of the book examines the ways in which states struggle for power in Europe within a legal framework. The second section considers the struggle for power itself through an analysis of recent developments and the perspectives of the leading European institutions, notably the EU, NATO, the WEU and the OSCE, as well as newer initiatives like NACC, Partnership for Peace and the EBRD. The contributors aim to determine the extent to which states currently operate according either to a balance of power logic or to an approach governed by a concern to build a wider security community in Europe."--Bloomsbury Publishing
