描述
Evidence-based medical practice stresses a combination of the best available objective evidence and an individual practitioner's clinical expertise. The Editor, a recognized leader in the field of gynecologic oncology and Fellow of the American College of Surgeons, has assembled authos to utilize the principles of evidence-based medicine, thereby providing a foundation for decision-making in clinical care. Perioperative and Supportive Care in Gynecologic Oncology discusses the diversity of available diagnostic and therapeutic options for problems in perioperative care of gynecologic oncology patients. Essential materials are presented within a framework of evidence-based medicine, with an emphasis on systematic data collection, grading, decision analysis, and cost sensitivity. Authors provide analyses of the modern-day issues facing providers of gynecologic perioperative and oncologic care. Included are discussions of evidence grading methodology, a primer on decision analysis application, and choosing the best data sources. Each chapter moves from clinical profiling of the disease or problem, followed by a presentation of the best available evidence, and concluding with treatment options where appropriate. This invaluable reference also presents the basics of perioperative and critical care, physiologic principles, as well as essential procedures and clinical tools. All practitioners and trainees involved in perioperative care will find this ground-breaking reference invaluable.
Joel I. Sorosky Using the principles of evidence-based medicine (EBM), this book provides a comprehensive analysis of how to provide the optimal preoperative, postoperative, and perioperative care for women with gynecologic malignancies. The purpose is to reduce practice variance to levels supported by evidence-based publications. The authors do a superb job in satisfying these worthy objectives by filling a void in the literature. This book is written for practitioners caring for women with gynecologic cancers. As most gynecologic malignancies are diseases of low prevalence, clinicians who are only occasionally involved in the care of these women will find the book particularly helpful. Residents and fellows will also find this book useful. This multiauthored textbook is written by West Coast clinicians, most of whom are well known and well published in their subspeciality. After reviewing the principles of EBM and decision support, the authors describe 18 distinct areas of perioperative and supportive care in gynecologic oncology including decision making and complications. The unique and best aspect of the book is that all information is correlated to EBM levels. This is an excellent addition to the armamentarium of clinicians caring for women with gynecologic cancers.

备用描述
This book discusses the available diagnostic and treatment options for a range gynecologic problems within the framework of evidence-based medicine and its emphasis on data gathering, decision-analysis, costs, and outcomes. The introductory chapters of the book lay a basic foundation; the rest of the text addresses focused issues specific to gynecologic and oncologic care. Each chapter provides a clinical profile of the disease or problem (e.g., cervical carcinoma), exploit data-driven decision analysis methodology to provide recommendations as to cost effective clinical guidelines, and include a decision in "tree" summarizing treatment options, expected outcomes, and relative costs.
