描述
Delineates the competent levels of nursing care and professional role activities expected of all pediatric nurses. Its scope of practice gives the context—the underlying assumptions, characteristics, environments and settings, education and training requirements, key issues and trends, and ethical and conceptual bases of the specialty—needed to understand and use the pediatric nursing standards of practice. All pediatric nurses are held accountable to these standards, which provide a framework for evaluating outcomes, goals, and their specialty practice. The set of specific competencies accompanying each standard serves as evidence of minimal compliance with that standard.

备用描述
Pediatric nurses are key contributors to the health of the 73 million children and adolescents in the U.S. To best assess and analyze the specialty's professional expertise and knowledge base and thus most accurately describe and delineate it, ANA, the Society for Pediatric Nurses (SPN), and the National Association of Pediatric Nurse and Practitioners (NAPNAP) assembled an expert team to develop a succinct guide to practice. Their two years of collaboration underlie this new, unified scope and standards of pediatric nursing practice for the benefit of children and their families, the public, and all nurses who care for them.
