من سلسلة روايات Young Sherlock Holmes "الشابّ شارلوك هولمز" يأتي هذا الكتاب وهو الطبعة العربية من رواية Snake Bite "لدغة الأفعى" للروائي أندرو لين. وفي الرواية: خُطف شارلوك وأُرسل على متن سفينة متجهة إلى الصين، وعندما وصل، وجد نفسه متورطاً في مغامرة؛ حيث توجب عليه حل لغز يتمثل بمقتل ثلاثة رجال بلدغات أفعى سامة، في ثلاثة أماكن مختلفة من مدينة شانغهاي. والسؤال الذي يطرح نفسه هو: من يقف وراء مقتل أولئك الأشخاص الثلاثة؟ ولماذا؟ الجواب يكمن في حلّ لغز الرسوم البيانية التي كانت على شكل بيت عنكبوت. ولكن حلّ هذا اللغز يطرح سؤالاً أكثر إلحاحاً، ألا وهو: ما علاقة هذه الرسوم البيانية بالمؤامرة التي تستهدف السفينة الحربية الأمريكية؟ وكعادته، سيواجه شارلوك المصاعب والمخاطر بمهارته المعتادة. إنه شارلوك هولمز، وإذا كنت تظن أنك تعلم عنه وعن مغامراته فيجدر بك التفكر بالأمر مرة أخرى.**
