A predictable social order was replaced by uncertainties and unprecedented changes, and while a western-style mobilization of incomes and opportunities emerged for some, social exclusion and poverty have been the experience of others." "Written by researchers from Leipzig and Britain, this book draws on hitherto unpublished empirical data, interviews and case studies to examine the transformation of everyday life in post-unification East Germany, with special reference to Leipzig.
