The American Academy of Pediatrics has developedand partnered on dozens of resources addressingmany aspects of integrating telehealth and virtualcare into the practice of pediatrics through the workof the Section on Telehealth Care (SOTC), the Sectionon Administration and Practice Management,the Supporting Pediatric Research on Outcomes andUtilization of Telehealth research subcommittee ofthe SOTC, the Payer Advocacy Advisory Committee,and the Supporting Providers and Families to AccessTelehealth and Distant Care Services for PediatricCare grant supported by the US Health Resources andServices Administration. This work represents thecollaborative eff orts of numerous passionate nationalexperts and innovators across multiple institutionsaround the country, dedicated to promoting safe,high-quality, equitable, coordinated care for ourpatients and their families, no matter their location.Telehealth and virtual care are an integral part ofthe future of our health care system. We have theopportunity to shape that future to the benefi t of allof our patients, families, practitioners, and care teammembers. Practiced at its highest level, telehealthand virtual care can function as key ingredients to anintegrated and seamless model of care for even ourhighest-risk and most disadvantaged populations. Itis up to us to ensure that bright future is achieved.
