Consisting of text as well color and black & white plates of 250 American watercolors and drawings from 1769 to 1969, this oversize (9.5x12.25) catalog accompanies an exhibition celebrating the 20th anniversary of Dartmouth College's Hood Museum of Art. Curator MacAdam and others discuss the history of Dartmouth and art, and present works by artists such as Copely, Audubon, Sargent, Cassatt, Homer, Whistler, Stella, Calder, Pollack, Wyeth, Lawrence, and Bearden. Description of materials, provenance, exhibition list, references, and notes are included for each piece of art.
