Volume 2 of the Draper Series. This volume of documents covers the first years of the Revolutionary War on the Ohio River frontier. Lyman Copeland Draper (1815-1891) began research in the late 1830s on frontier days and particularly on the Indian wars of the Ohio River Valley, collecting documents, writing notes, and corresponding with people who had experienced historical events there. He continued his research throughout his life, leaving behind at the Wisconsin Historical Society, which he directed, an enormous volume of materials that are referred to as the ‘Draper Manuscript Collection’. The Draper Series consists of 5 volumes of documents selected from the Draper Collection, edited by staff of the Wisconsin Historical Society at the beginning of the 20th century. Volume 1 covers Lord Dunmore’s War in 1774, and the remaining four volumes cover the period of the American Revolution.

nexusstc/Waltzing with Bashir: Perpetrator Trauma and Cinema/57eba8af3ca29486b35a2e5cd5f26933.pdf
Waltzing with Bashir: Perpetrator Trauma and Cinema (International Library of the Moving Image) Raya Morag I. B. Tauris, Bloomsbury UK, London, 2013
Waltzing with Bashir proposes a new paradigm for cinema trauma studies – the trauma of the perpetrator. Recognizing a current shift in interest from the trauma suffered by victims to that suffered by perpetrators, the book seeks to theorize this yet under-theorized field. Taking as a point of departure the distinction between testimony given by the victim and confession made by the perpetrator, this pioneering work ventures to define and analyze perpetrator trauma in scholarly, representational, literary, and societal contexts. Driven by the emergence of a new wave of Israeli documentary cinema, the book analyzes Israeli post- second-Intifada films and literature. As Ari Folman's Waltz with Bashir and other new wave films demonstrate, Israeli cinema, attached on one side to the legacy of the Holocaust and on the other to the Israeli Occupation, is a highly relevant case for probing the limits of both victim and perpetrator traumas.

Alexander's bridge, by Willa Sibert Cather. Cather, Willa, 1873-1947 Houghton Mifflin co., 1922., Massachusetts, 1922
Engineer Bartley Alexander appears to have a happy life in Boston with a successful career and a beautiful wife. He has been commissioned to design the Moorlock Bridge in Canada, the most important project of his career. With the onset of middle age, however, he grows increasingly restless and discontented, so much so that while in London he recklessly reignites a love affair with the sweetheart of his youth, the Irish actress Hilda Borgoyne. Although the tryst allows Alexander to recapture an element that has been missing from his pedestrian life, the relationship torments his sense of morality and eventually proves disastrous. Alexander's Bridge explores the demands of Gilded Age society on the individual, as well as the capacity of the individual to violate his own standards of integrity
