Stands of relict vegetation, soil horizons, and sedimentary deposits along with archaeological evidence suggest that during certain time spans within the past twenty millennia, Jordan was endowed with moister and more vegetated landscapes than the ones we see today. In this detailed volume, Carlos E. Cordova synthesizes diverse information on multiple topics to provide a comprehensive view of the changes in the Jordanian landscape and the many ways it has been affected by human habitation and the forces of nature. Cordova focuses on geoarchaeological and cultural ecological aspects of research, presenting data from physical, chemical, and biological sources. He examines the changing influence of climate, vegetation, and hunting opportunities on cultural exploitation tactics, as well as the effects of the growing population and agriculture on the environment. Cordova argues that an interdisciplinary approach to studying the area is crucial to achieving a true understanding of Jordan’s changing landscape. Chapter topics include approaches to the study of ancient Jordanian landscapes in the Near Eastern context; the physical scene; endowed landscapes of the woodlands; the encroaching drylands; the current and future state of the paleoecological and geoarchaeological record; patterns of millennial landscape change; and the process of interpreting millennial landscape change. The text is abundantly illustrated with photos, line illustrations, tables, and maps, providing a valuable assessment of archaeological developments over the prehistory and history of what today is the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan. En la zona fronteriza sur, donde se localiza el Ecuador con el vecino país Perú. Se encuentran dos cantones importantes por su paso comercial, el cantón Macará de la provincia de Loja, y el cantón Huaquillas de la provincia de El Oro. En donde, por medio de la Coordinación 7 del Ministerio de Salud Pública se gestionó gracias al Proyecto ProSalud Frontera Sur, la base de datos Registro Diario Automatizado de Consultas y Atenciones Ambulatorias, que nos permitió clarificar la problemática a nivel de salud pública en estos cantones. Se puede observar a lo largo del texto que las mujeres presentan mayores cantidades de enfermedades frente a los hombres manteniéndose estables estos en los tres años y tanto para ecuatorianos como para extranjeros.

For this event, the University of Indiana has invited both nationally and internationally renowned experts, who will discuss the present circumstances of indigenous Latin American languages and cultures from a variety of perspectives. At a fundamental level, reticular chemistry offers an intellectually-stimulating journey through discovery, rational design, structural characterization, and technology-driven properties and applications. Este estudio surgió hace algunos años, en 2012, como iniciativa de Cynthia Sanborn cuando se desempeñaba como directora del Centro de Investigación de la Universidad del Pacífico (CIUP), como apoyo al proyecto sobre discriminación. Agradezco a Liuba Kogan por sus comentarios en los inicios de la recopilación y a Xiomy Reyes por la corrección y actualización. Son dos las reflexiones que extraigo de este trabajo de recopilación bibliográfica: la primera es la actual relevancia del tema en el ámbito nacional y su aparente ausencia en los planes de investigación de las universidades. En segundo lugar, que el tratamiento que se le da ha tenido una evolución importante, sobre todo en los últimos años.
