Marine-Arsenal 017 - Die ersten Grosskampschiffe der Kaiserlichen Marine (NASSAU- und HELGOLAND-Klasse) - книга о первых сериях дредноутов кайзеровской Германии. Появление в составе британского флота «Дредноута» заставило другие страны разрабатывать собственные проекты линкоров нового типа. И если в ряде других стран первые дредноуты стали логическим развитием последних крупных броненосцев с башенной артиллерией промежуточного (8»-10») калибра , то немцы сделали пожалуй самый серьезный шаг. Разница между «Брауншвейгами» в 13000 тонн и «Нассау» в 20000 тонн огромна. Корабли получились достаточно удачными и для своего размера весьма мощно забронированными. Пожалуй , единственными недостатками было размещение 6 башен по ромбической схеме , в результате чего на борт могли стрелять только 4 из них и применение традиционных паровых машин , что ограничивало скорость 20 узлами. Проект следующей серии «Гельголанд» был по сути увеличенным «Нассау» - на 4500 тонн тяжелеее , броня на дюйм толще , артиллерия главного калибра - 12 весьма мощных 305/50 орудий вместо такого же количества 280мм. Корабли активно участвовали в первой мировой войне и отличались достаточно неплохой живучестью.

This dissertation presents a numerical method to optimize the thickness distribution of three-dimensional structures with respect to various vibrational and structural properties. A combination of a commercially available finite element software package and additional user-written programs is used to modify the shape (but not the number of nodes and elements) of finite element models of the structures to be optimized. This is done iteratively and without manual intervention so as to achieve significant improvements of the objective function. The optimization process continues automatically until some predefined convergence criterion is met or until some prespecified maximum number of iterations is reached.

This volume comprises a selection of the best papers presented at the Seventh Interna tional Symposium on Applications of Laser Techniques to Fluid Mechanics held at The Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon, during the period of July 11 to 14,1994. The papers describe Applications to Fluid Mechanics, Applications to Combustion, Instrumentation for Velocity and Size Measurements and Instrumentation for Whole Field Velocity and demonstrate the continuing and healthy interest in the development of understanding of the methodology and implementation in terms of new instru mentation. The prime objective of this Seventh Symposium was to provide a forum for the presen tation of the most advanced research on laser techniques for flow measurements, and communicate significant results to fluid mechanics. The applications oflaser techniques to scientific and engineering fluid flow research was emphasized, but contributions to the theory and practice of laser methods were also considered where they facilitate new improved fluid mechanic research. Attention was placed on laser-Doppler anemometry, particle sizing and other methods for the measurement of velocity and scalar, such as particle image velocimetry and laser induced fluorescence. We would like to take this opportunity to thank those who participated. The assistance provided by the Advisory Committee, by assessing abstracts was highly appreciated.
